06:41 pm: "star!"
Jude did her dance competition in Guildford today, amongst other things she danced in the under 6 solo, and came FIRST!

I am SO proud of her I cannot begin to tell you all !

07:18 pm: "what a feeling"

heh. So right, tomorrow I am going back to disco dance class after a break of 6 years. I may die.

People who know me well will know that I did disco / freestyle dance from a young age up til I fell pregnant with Jude. I did numerous exams, shows and competitions and well during my childhood it was pretty much my life.

I have sort of been talked into going back and I do so with a sense of trepidation - I am so out of condition and I am not even sure if I can do it anymore!

So, watch this space for further updates once I have taken class (and possibly died of a major heart attack) tomorrow night ;)

07:12 pm: so then....
Dawn has asked me to explain!

all saints - not the band!!! (but I do own one of their albums) the clothing range - kinda got a bit into All Saints clothing last summer, due to a certain lanky bassist from Wales parading around in their stuff. I can't afford the stuff really but that doesn't stop me looking at it in House of Fraser ALL THE TIME. I own 3 All Saints t shirts and an All Saints bag and I don't ever dare to tell Kev how much they were!

html - I learned to write html code whilst on maternity leave - and I still love it and trust it more than Dreamweaver - but my boss makes me use Dreamweaver.

purple waterproof trousers - the coolest ever Manics gig queuing attire. As modelled by me at a very wet and windy Cardiff International Arena, January 2005. CHECK.THEM.OUT.

queue nazis  -  the ....erm...fond name myself and my friends were given back in 2003 sometime when we tried to have a list of people queuing for a Manics gig and tried to keep the queue in some kind of order. The name kinda stuck.

thats nicky wire!! - It should just be "nicky wire" -  I don't know where the "that's" bit came from - prob a typo. Anyway there's this bass player in some Welsh band that I'm quite keen on...;)

rustic beards  - hehe. right this is gonna sound weird. A few years ago I went out with some Manics-fan friends from Finland who speak excellent English, , we were having a meal in Bella Italia in Cambridge I think. One of the Finnish friends was studying the menu with some interest when she asked "what's a rustic tomato" - so we set about explaining the meaning of the word "rustic" - at the time the best thing we could come up with was "y'know Nicky Wire's beard at Isle of Wight Festival in 2003? That was kinda rustic". So the term Rustic Beards was born...

pizza express - the best pizza restaurant in the world, nay the universe. The Fiorentina has been my pizza of choice for over two decades however I have recently switched allegiance to the Parmense. If you want to make me happy take me to a Pizza Express.

02:38 pm: So on Friday me and karen1074 when to see Jake Shillingford in St Albans.

We had great Pizza Express-ness..

and Jake was swoonsome...

He had an Omnichord.

He is also going to marry Heather Mills and sell his song "Neverland" to Robbie Williams, I'm not entirely happy about either of these prospects but to be fair they both sound like good earners.

We got an acoustic "If You Can't Live Without Me" and an acoustic Strumpet and an acoustic Sparkle...my my Mr Shillingford, with these acoustic renditions you really are spoiling us.

I am such a goddam fangirl.

I went to see Alice and Isabella on Tuesday, we had tea in the Dandy and I came away a little teary eyed but I am also so excited for them.

My parents are down this weekend so my water bill is increasing and I have a study full of my mothers old clothes she is expecting me to wear. yer nice.

In other news I have tickets to see Gingerhead and his mates in Poland (*yay*) and we are going to Blackpool on Friday *grin*.

04:50 pm: "I don't believe I'll ever feel this way again"
I really don't update this goddam thing enough - but to be fair unless you want to read the inane ramblings of a 32 year old Manics fan who should know better there's not a lot to tell.

But having spent the last few minutes reading my best friend Alice's blog I felt inspired to write something about her.

Some of you have met Alice (aka Harold) - most of you haven't because she doesn't really move in Manics circles (see, she grew out of her teenage obsession, which in her part was Drum and Bass DJing - see how different we were even then?). Alice has been my best friend for as long as I can remember, in fact I don't really remember playing with anyone, holding hands with anyone, having dreams with anyone, talking about being a grown up with anyone before I met Alice.

Alice knows me better than anyone, she keeps me on the straight and narrow, she'd tell me if an outfit looked shit, she was the first person to hold our daughter after me and Kev, and on the subject of that, Jude's full name is Jude Elsie ALICE - that's how special Alice is to me.

Alice has been there when times were good, endless dancing competitions as kids where we actually ruled the dancefloor, chief bridesmaid duties at my wedding, hell she even came to visit my barmy Nan last year to show off her beautiful baby daughter. She's also been there when times were bad and she sure as hell has picked me up, dusted me off and sent me off on my merry way so many times I can't remember.

I trust her judgement 100% and so when she told me sometime early last year she was going off travelling with her husband, dog and young baby I was a bit agog, but I knew she would make it work. They move out of their house soon and in under 3 months they will be travelling Europe in a folding camper with all their wordly goods in a small amount of plastic boxes. See, if anyone else I knew told me they were going to do that I would tell them they were fucking mad and consider calling social services, but Alice and her lovely family will make it work.

I've always nicknamed Alice "the clothes horse" - because she has this ability to look fabulous in anything she wears - from joggers in the garden to evening dress to her fantastic home made jewellery she has been making for as long as I can remember - she just always looks stunning, and she makes it look effortless.

Recently she's also been nicknamed "the girl with the midas touch" - it seems whetever Alice sets her heart on doing it works. Not only does it work, but it works really well. Her beautiful house in Greece, and now this crazy hairbrained scheme of living in a tent on wheels in the french countryside, while they look for a property to refurbish, it will be perfect. One day in the not too distant future we'll visit Alice and her family, and we'll enjoy a homecooked rustic meal with vegetables they've grown themselves, we'll sit on home-upholstered chairs in a beautiful barn conversion and watch our daughters playing together and Alice and her family will have lived their dream, and I will smile.

Yup. I guess thats Alice. She means more to me than she will ever know.

07:54 am: "wrap your arms around this everlasting kiss"
I stole these photos from __enola, I hope she doesn't mind.

At the age of 32, and as a married mother of a 5 year old, on the PTA, there should not be any photos in existence of me sitting on a bed in a hotel room with about 8 other people, swigging a bOttle of glitter fizz. I blame the Manics entirely..

(last night of the tour party, Brighton Dec 2007)

Oh and here's Jude in the Birmingham queue with Samanda in their Xmas tree dresses...
